A group of the world’s top automotive designers has selected Ian Callum as the winner of the 2025 EyesOn Design Lifetime Design Achievement Award for his outstanding career in vehicle design.
Callum, who was born in Scotland, knew he wanted to design cars at a young age after he saw a Jaguar E-Type in a dealership window while on a trip to Glasgow with his grandfather.
Later, he would work for the storied English brand, where he and his team designed some of the most striking Jaguars, including the R-Coupe, the F-Type, F-PACE and I-PACE, a World Car of the Year Award winner.
Before that, Callum had worked at the Ford Design Studios in England, where he contributed to the creation of the Escort RS Cosworth and the Ghia Via Concept car.
Next, he was named chief designer at TWR Design, where he handled the designs of the classic Aston Martin DB7 and the Vanquish.
After his stint at Jaguar, he was one of the founders of Callum, a design and engineering business set up to create high-end and limited-edition vehicles. Its first creation was the Aston Martin Callum Vanquish 25. Its latest is the Callum Skye, an all-new, all-electric, all-terrain vehicle, the first to be designed, engineered and built by the bespoke British brand.
Beyond the automotive world, Callum’s clean and dramatic style has attracted collaborations in fashion, new energy sources, luxury travel, sustainable materials and even a whiskey.
And Callum, named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) five years ago for his contributions to the British car industry, is committed to nurturing the next generation of talent through the placement and support of young designers.
Callum will receive the 2025 Lifetime Design Achievement Award at a black tie event on June 13, 2025 as part of the weeklong series of EyesOn Design activities. These culminate in its annual automotive design show, held every Father’s Day on the grounds of the lakefront Eleanor & Edsel Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan.
